The Wellington Animation Film Festival is back this year.

Following the success of its inaugural event in 2024, the Wellington Animation Film Festival will return this March, to celebrate the animation world and the craftsmanship behind the artform.

Held in the heart of Wellywood at Roxy Cinemas from 21-23 March (2025), this year’s festival will feature a host of New Zealand premieres, retrospectives, short films and industry panel discussions.

Five highly-acclaimed films will receive their New Zealand premiere: Living Large (Winner of the Section ContreChamps at Annecy 2024), Colors Within (Japan), The Storm (China), Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning (South Korea), and Rock Bottom (Spain and Poland).

Are all the movies for the family?

This year we are showcasing movies for kids, families, teens, and young adults, all labeled on the program or the Roxy ticketing website.

There's a Q&A programmed after the movie, can I stay?

This year, two movies will be followed by a Q&A, Footrot Flats, and the Student Shorts Selection. You can attend the Q&A if you bought a ticket.

How much are the tickets?

Tickets can be purchased online or at the Roxy directly. Prices are 12$ adults, 10$ children, seniors and students.

Family of 4 packages at 40$ and family of 5 packages at 50$.
