Marie Tricart’s journey as a concept artist and matte painter began in London, where she first embarked on her creative career. Motivated by her passion for imagery and storytelling, she ventured to Canada before finally settling in New Zealand.

Over the past decade, she has dedicated her efforts to crafting realistic and stylized environments for various mediums such as film, television, and games. In 2021, she co founded 37Degrees Studio, a Creative Development Studio. Through this venture, Marie aspires to continue pushing the boundaries of content creation and collaboration, driven by her unwavering dedication to creativity and problem-solving.

Arthur Struyf’s journey in the film industry is a testament to his dedication to creativity and storytelling. With a solid foundation in film production studies, he began his career at a television news channel. Seeking a more creative environment, he eagerly enrolled in a prestigious international training program at La Fémis Film School and the Ludwigsburg Film Academy.

His ventures then led him to New Zealand, where he explored the realm of documentary filmmaking at Doc Edge. Today, as a member of the production team at Weta FX, Arthur continues to carve his path in the visual effects industry

As Floating Rock’s CCO, Laurent’s main focus is to set the artistic standards and creative vision for the company. He also engages with talent development, quality control, and technological innovation. Laurent is a consummate 3D Modeller and expert in FACS (Facial Action Coding System).

He modelled memorable characters and creatures on projects such as Alita: Battle Angel and Planet of the Apes. His work on Pogo from The Umbrella Academy was nominated for the prestigious VES award.

Guillaume Renier hails from a tiny town up in Northern France and he has been deeply captivated by the world around him since his early days. His profound appreciation for the untamed beauty of landscapes became a pivotal force in shaping his career in the cinema industry. Having honed his skills as an Environment Artist in France, UK, Canada, and New Zealand, he made the decision to leverage his extensive experience by establishing 37Degrees Studio in the scenic landscape of Aotearoa, New Zealand. This studio is dedicated to the meticulous craft of Visual Effects (VFX), with a particular emphasis on the intricate Art of Worldbuilding for Film, Games, and TV Series.

Considering that Garrick doesn’t have a shy bone in his body, he is naturally Floating Rock’s resident business development specialist. He also handles strategic partnerships and client relations with ease.

Garrick’s extensive experience in character and creature animation allowed him to develop his creative eye, working for top VFX studios around the world. His impressive portfolio includes blockbuster films like Hunger Games, Valerian, The Hobbit 3, and Peter Rabbit 2.

Claire is a multimedia artist who graduated from Visual Arts in Canada and a MultiMedia Design diploma in Singapore. She has worked in illustration and graphic design since.

Funny Schütt, is a french – german and canadian 3D animator working since 2007 for TV, Video Games and VFX. She worked and lived 13 years in Montréal and today is based in Wellington, New-Zealand where she has been working at WetaFX as a performance animator.

In her freetime she keeps doing art, by drawing and painting, getting inspired by the nature and people that surround her.

Loïc Girault, a French VFX artist, working at Floating Rock Studio in New Zealand. He enjoys exploring how images and environments can enhance storytelling by combining techniques with artistic choices.

Sarah is a French VFX compositor and CG generalist at Fathom VFX based in Auckland, where she can craft her vision through stunning visuals.
Growing artist and naturally curious, she also has a special love for drawing that she keep training on her free time.

With 15+ years in the VFX and animation industry, Nicolas is Senior Compositor on large-scale productions as well as supervising VFX for commercials, music videos, TV series, combining creative leadership with hands-on artistry.

Appointed the inaugural Executive Director of the Visual Effects Professionals Guild in 2023, Bree leads national advocacy, research, and professional development for the guild. Known for connecting industry, government, and education, she works to strengthen pathways, grow capability, and position New Zealand’s VFX and animation sector for long-term success.

Raqi Syed is a writer, visual effects designer, and researcher. She is co-director of the award-winning film experience MINIMUM MASS.

Her practice and teaching focus on the materiality of light, hybrid forms of non-fiction and genre storytelling, and an anti-racist critical aesthetics of visual effects.

What is C.A.F.E.?

C.A.F.E (Creative Aotearoa French Exchange) is an association of French-speaking individuals working in creative industries in New Zealand, particularly in visual effects and animation. The association supports its members in their creative endeavors and promotes cultural exchanges between New Zealand and French-speaking countries.

C.A.F.E currently includes about ten companies involved in visual effects and animated content based in New Zealand but not only. It is also the home of many artists, from photographers, to illustrators and movie producers. The diversity of its members and their common interest in the creative fields makes it the best place to celebrate our creativity.

Only founded in 2023, C.A.F.E. has already organized the first edition of the WAFF in 2024 ( Wellington Animation Film Festival) and is actively working on the 2nd edition of the WAFF happening in March 2025.
